Sabinar Hive Photovoltaic Solar Plant

The Sabinar Hive photovoltaic solar plant forms part of a photovoltaic cluster located within the municipal boundaries of Olmedilla de Alarcón, in Cuenca. The plant was developed in two phases: an initial phase in which almost 170 MWp of peak photovoltaic capacity were installed, followed by an expansion of a further 83 MWp (a project also known as Sabinar 2).

Sabinar Hive is considered the sister plant of Olmedilla Hive, as both were built and commissioned almost simultaneously, are less than 1 km apart, and evacuate power through the same substation.

The original plant envisaged the occupation of a total area of 530 ha, with an effective occupied area of 467 ha. The expansion incorporates higher-efficiency solar modules, allowing a reduction in the effective land use through a redistribution of panels, bringing it down to 451.45 ha, of which 119 ha correspond to the extension and the remaining 332.45 ha to the original plant.

The plant is located to the south of the CM-2100 road and to the north of the N-III road. The site can be accessed via rural tracks branching off from both roads.
