Solar Photovoltaic Plant Alcon I

The Alcón 1 hybrid photovoltaic solar plant is a solar installation with 26.04 MWp of photovoltaic power, located in the municipality of Alconera (Badajoz, Extremadura). The project was initially promoted and authorized in 2020 by Sistem Melesur Energía, S.A.. This development company later became part of Omexom (VINCI Energies), which obtained the prior administrative authorization and its environmental impact assessment for the construction of the traditional solar plant.

The plant was built throughout 2023-2024 with a capital investment exceeding 18.5 million euros, operating since the end of 2023 / early 2024 after obtaining the operating authorization in favor of Olcin Solar Energy, S.L., an independent vehicle company that is listed as the legal owner and proprietor of the installation as of 2025.

In 2025, the modification of its authorization was approved to incorporate an energy storage system using lithium-ion batteries (BESS), called BESS Alcon 1, with an installed power of 10.911 MW and a storage capacity of 7.732 MWh. As of 12-2025, this hybridization is still under construction.

The project is being commercially operated by NEXUS ENERGIA as the market representative, although Olcin Solar Energy, S.L. is listed as the technical holder and owner. Physical access to the plant is from the EX-101 road that connects Alconera with the main routes of the province of Badajoz, facilitating logistical connection during construction and operation.
