Solar Photovoltaic Plant Gaetana

The Gaetana photovoltaic plant is a renewable energy generation project promoted by the company Gaetana Solar, S.L., linked to the Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV) group. Located in the province of Badajoz, its main implementation is situated in the municipality of La Roca de la Sierra, although its evacuation infrastructure also extends through Mérida, La Nava de Santiago and Cordobilla de Lácara.

Access to the facilities is mainly through the rural road network connected with the regional highways that structure the La Roca de la Sierra area and the surroundings of the Los Canchales reservoir, from the EX-327 highway.

Originally, the project was conceived and processed for a capacity of 150 MWp (peak power) and 135 MW of nominal power. However, after requesting a project modification in March 2022, the General Directorate of Energy Policy and Mines granted a new administrative construction authorization that increased its capacity. Currently, the plant has a peak power of 180 MWp, an inverter capacity of 171 MWac and an access and connection capacity of 150 MWn.

This infrastructure is complemented by the Morantes step-up substation (30/220 kV) and an evacuation line that connects with the Carmonita node of Red Eléctrica de España.
