Solar Photovoltaic Plant Valdesolar

The Valdesolar solar photovoltaic plant (also known as Valdesolar Hive), located approximately 3 km from the urban center of the municipality of Valdecaballeros (province of Badajoz, Extremadura), has an installed peak photovoltaic capacity of 264 MWp. It was developed and operated by REPSOL (through its electricity generation subsidiary) and entered the generation phase in the third quarter of 2021. It is REPSOL’s largest photovoltaic plant in Spain.

The plant is composed of more than 750,000 solar modules distributed across six large areas. It connects to the node of the Valdecaballeros Transmission Electrical Substation (400 kV) of the transmission network through the Valdesolar step-up substation and a 12.6 km line to the Valdecaballeros substation. The 30/400 kV step-up substation is located in the southern section of Zone 5.

Access to the plant site is via the EX-316 road.

The project’s promoter company is VALDESOLAR HIVE, S.L., a single-member limited liability company whose sole shareholder is REPSOL ELECTRICIDAD Y GAS, S.A.

Its annual generation is approximately 514,490 MWh/year, equivalent to about 140,000 households, and its renewable generation avoids the emission of more than 211,000 tons of CO2 per year.
