Solar Photovoltaic Plant Don Rodrigo 2

The Don Rodrigo 2 photovoltaic solar plant, located in the municipality of Alcalá de Guadaíra (province of Seville, Andalusia, Spain), constitutes the second major ground development of the “Don Rodrigo” series by German promoter BayWa r.e. This installation has an installed capacity of 50 MWp. Don Rodrigo 2 is the sister plant of Don Rodrigo 1, located in Seville, and is less than 10km from its sister. It is smaller than Don Rodrigo 1.

The plant employs a single-axis tracking system developed in collaboration with the company Zimmermann PV‑Tracker GmbH, which is self-powered through its own modules, reducing the need for batteries.

The plant was built without receiving subsidies for the energy generated, being commissioned in May 2020. The promotion, construction, and commissioning were carried out by BayWa r.e., while ownership was acquired by German insurer Talanx AG through advance purchase (sale in January 2020).

Don Rodrigo II is designed to produce close to 100 GWh per year, equivalent to the electricity consumption of approximately 30,000 Spanish homes.
