Solar Photovoltaic Plant Kappa II (Perseo Fotón III)

The Kappa complex, located in the municipality of Manzanares (province of Ciudad Real), represents Repsol’s first photovoltaic installation in Spain. It was officially inaugurated on June 21, 2021, when the first two plants of the complex entered operation, Perseo Fotón I and Perseo Fotón II, which together have an installed capacity of 90.5 MWp, grouped in Kappa I. Subsequently, Perseo Fotón III, also known as Kappa II, was developed with a capacity of 36.1 MWp that was added to the complex, raising Kappa’s total installed power to 126.6 MWp, which is the plant being analyzed here.

The photovoltaic complex is accessible from the CM-3107 road and is visible from it, with several accesses between kilometers 34 and 36 of the CM-3107. It is located about 10 kilometers northeast of Manzanares, in an area surrounded by other photovoltaic and thermosolar plants such as “La Revuelta” or the Thermosolar Manchasol I and II.

The project involved an investment of close to 100 million euros, and its development has been an economic boost to the region during its various construction phases.
