Solar Photovoltaic Plant Francisco Pizarro

The Francisco Pizarro solar plant is located between the municipalities of Trujillo and Aldeacentenera (Cáceres, Extremadura). It is currently the largest photovoltaic plant in Spain. Built and operated by Iberdrola, it has a peak photovoltaic capacity of almost 600 MWp, with more than 1.5 million solar panels. Access to the plant is from the A-58 highway and the local roads connecting with Aldeacentenera and Torrecillas de la Tiesa.

The occupation on the plots (cadastral area) is 1,353 hectares, and the fenced area is 1,115 hectares.

This installation is capable of generating approximately 1,500 gigawatt hours (GWh) of energy per year, sufficient to supply more than 334,000 households.
