Solar Photovoltaic Plant Naturgy Tabernas II
The “Naturgy Tabernas II” solar plant, together with “Naturgy Tabernas I”, form a small photovoltaic cluster of 100 MWp owned by Naturgy that went into operation at the end of 2023. They carry the “Naturgy” surname because in the town of Tabernas, in the vicinity of the “220/400kV Tabernas” electrical substation, there are many photovoltaic plants (many others also contain the nickname Tabernas).
Tabernas I and Tabernas II, owned by Naturgy, have planned their respective hybridizations of 19.8 MW and 46.656 MWh with a budget of 8.7M€ for each BESS. The construction of Tabernas II plus the evacuation line and the step-up substation was budgeted at 27.5M€. This hybridization is an important project because the Tabernas node is one of the transmission substations with the most renewable energy curtailment.
The combination of Tabernas I and Tabernas II, owned by Naturgy, produces energy equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 65,400 homes and contributes to reducing more than 145,200 tons of CO2 per year.
